BeOS is an operating system by Be Inc. It was known for its modern design, advanced multimedia capabilities, and elegant interface. Just when it was about to carve a niche for itself, pressure from Microsoft made OEMs drop it, which led to a lawsuit. Although Be is no more, BeOS lives on as Haiku, a free / open source clone.
