For one argument would be helping (good) developers in their first week sales of the release. Companies like Ubisoft and EA are always confirming how much copies of their games have been sold at the first month and they are deciding next releases depending on the sell rate. As a good example, Max Payne never reached another sequel because of the poor sales on the PC. It's only pure luck we get one now.

Actually, newer and newer games are comming up like Chinese population and I think it's neccessary sooner or later to start a recommention summary for games which are comming soon.

The other argument would be warning /v/irgins and other gamers about DRM and shit. As currently, Splinter Cell Conviction and Prince of Persia the Forgotten Sands are good games, but will be heavily DRM'd.
