"Bring the whole arcade into your home!"

The GX4000 is Amstrad's sole attempt at entering the console market. Based on the architecture of their own CPC Plus computer line, it offered enhanced graphics capabilities and was compatible with most CPC Plus software. The system failed spectacularly, mostly due to bad marketing and timing. Only 27 games were made for it - most straight or barely improved ports of old CPC games that could be had for a fraction of the price on cassette. And even at its best, it was completely outgunned, as the market was shifting to far more powerful 16-bit machines. So Amstrad quietly discontinued the system and went back to their home computers.

Also, a very important note if you actually have this system: get a replacement power supply, the one included is a piece of shit that can blow up and fry the system entirely.
