MM2 iPhone Edit

It's really bad. It's not a faithful port, they altered the physics and stuff. The touch controls aren't very good. It got COMPLETELY DESTROYED by reviewers as the worst game to EVER have "Mega Man" in the title. Unless you have played this trash, please reconsider putting it on the iPhone recommended games list. Don't just assume "Oh Mega Man 2, that's a good game". --RubilacEx 22:01, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Box Art attempts Edit

Box Title Genre Description
Daxter Platformer You play Daxter, the sidekick from the Jak and Daxter series, working as an exterminator. Better than it sounds. Beautiful graphics, good old platforming, and amusing minigames that parody movies.

satatami: Yeah I'll be working on what I know. Games for all, bro. Games for all. PS2/Gamecube descriptions represent.

Suggested format Edit

I copy-pasted my Guildwars Wiki userpage thing onto this wiki, hoping that the template could be adapted to work in this wiki. I stole the design from some other person on GWW as I don't know much about wiki code, but if you take a look at the template on my GWW page then you should see what I'm trying to get at. I think it'd be very useful for the large lists required of this wiki. The boxes could be collapsed to begin with, and show game title, genre and a couple of other things, and then when enlarged you could see the box art, some more details and a full description. Ultimately whatever gets the wiki away from using huge images i'm happy with. I figure someone with more wiki experience than myself would be able to produce a working port of the template from GWW. Page Editor problems? Edit

Just registered and started contributing; great site here. Been having some troubles with the page editor - I typed up some stuff for the GBA section and it previewed fine. Upon actually saving changes, it turned one of my new descriptions into a quote, stretching the page to hell and back. Checking the history of edits and comparing between my edit/last edit, it also changed some aspect of the table on the page as well as removing blank lines I didn't even touch when I made my edits. I figure it's better to just ask here rather than let you assume I'm purposefully trying to vandalize shit.--Green Mage 10:44, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

You seem to know how to work this Wiki business Edit

Do you know how to get rid of these little fucks? I am probably just being an idiot but I can't seem to figure it out... --Gurbural 18:37, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Page Editor troubles Edit

Much like Green Mage before me, I made some changes to the GBA page, and it previewed fine. {C}Unfortunately, when I saved the changes, images no longer load, and it shows the image name {C}that I added twice in the box where the image appeared once in the preview, and it is also {C}in the boxart column of the two games directly underneath, Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral {C}Town and More Friends of Mineral Town. I do not know why this happened, as I didn't touch either of those columns.--Gunr 05:02, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Nintendo (NES page)/TurboGrafx 16 Edit

Yo, no problem about the PS3 edits.

I'm actually a big NES fan though, and I feel the NES page is skimpy. If you don't mind I'd like to add a lot to that page including more games, longer descriptions, possibly even a boxart column since has all the NES's boxart anyways.

Also, if no one else is willing to, I'd totally spearhead the creation of a TurboGrafx16/Turbo Cd page. {C}-- MFGreth

You know what? I actually alreayd started the TurboGrafx page. If you wouldn't mind putting it on the front page under 4th gen, I'd be much obliged. {C}-- MFGreth

New category Edit

You're the guy in charge, right ? Add the Freeware Games list I just created to the main page, under "Other" please. --Some other Anonymous 18:21, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

For whatever reason, Wikia isn't letting me sign on, and no sign on means I can't unprotect the main page. I'll figure out some way around it. --Kotep

It looks like, for some reason, Wikia decided to suddenly change your login from your email to your username. Have you tried that, Kotep? --Green Mage 04:23, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

E-mail trouble? Edit

I recieved a message saying that I was now logged in and would be getting an e-mail. How long does that usually take? Thanks in advance. {C}I have no clue at all. Wikia is as strange to me as it is to you. Kotep 04:22, 28 August 2009 (UTC) I see. Well, thanks anyways. Hope I can do my part in contributing more.

Cave Story Entry Edit

I got a giggle or two out of posting that in the short term, but yeah, it needs a proper description in the long run. Did you happen to see what I named the image file?

That's all I really wanted to say. Lovin' the new wiki header image, BTW!

I have to admit, I did lol a little. I've only played a tiny bit of it on my PSP though so I can't really say too much about it. :S {C}Thanks, I'm trying to get some sort of coherent visual theme going on, but I know nothing about how to do that. Kotep 22:56, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

Were some description summaries erased? Edit

I think I've seen a few descriptions shaved off to their previous or new status as absolutely minuscule quips. I wouldn't really mind that much if some of them actually explained a bit more than they did. I doubt it's just my cookies or history interfering, since some of them are still the same. I know that anyone can edit entries, and I know that we are supposed to be brief, but could it be recommended that if some descriptions actually explain the game, to not cut them apart so much? If anything, I'd like to say that a brief summary is better than just tossing a meme or in-joke that people who don't play the game wouldn't get, and don't explain things at all. Sorry if I sound whiny. --Dejiko 03:30, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

I think maybe you mean about the Anno 1404 entry? I tried to edit it so that it still described the highlights of the game, without being overly long. Yes, perhaps it loses a bit of its expository mojo, but for example, you don't really need to say 'it's an RTS in which you can negotiate with neighboring factions', because that's a fairly common feature. Any edits I may have made to trim down any of your entries were just made in the spirit of making them more accessible. Not everyone wants to read a two-paragraph synopsis of a game. (But for those that do, it could be put on a separate page, just for that game. It's something a few people have mentioned.) Kotep 03:35, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

I see. Thank you for responding. At least now I know that it wasn't my craptop on the fritz. That is a pretty good idea I suppose, and I apologize for being overly-wordy is some of my description additions. Although, if you don't mind me saying or doing so, there are a few things I'd like to re-edit, to add in some short clarifications. The example I was talking about in specific (this was the most notable to me upon viewing) was the Balloon Kid edit, in which I think a bit of clearing up needs to be added in that it is more like Balloon Fight's Balloon Trip mode. Sorry again, and thanks for clearing things up. Hope I can keep improving the wiki and my writings. --Dejiko 03:57, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Hello! Thanks for the warm welcome. Seeing how I almost always use this wiki I find it useful to contribute to it myself for the users that will come in future.

On a side note, I was wondering: Would it be permitted to create different categories to facilitate navigation? For example, "In-depth examinations" for pages like the Doom one, "Reccomended games set by console" for the PC, XBOX ecc. pages... let me know what you think about it.

Thanks again, --Eprahim (JC Denton!!yol15V9qUV6) 17:41, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Unified List of Acceptable Genres Edit

I've come across a few moments where people use different terms for the same genre, or people throw in genres that don't really apply to the game. I decided it would be a good idea to create a unified list of accepted genres and a guide to choosing the right one, so I started a page to help contributors with just that. Hope you don't mind, check it out. - MFGreth1 18:30, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Game Boy Advance page Edit

Obviously the Gameboy Advance page on the front page is pretty much done, but for som reason, SOMEONE MADE ANOTHER -

the worst part is, sidebar links to this version. delete that page and fix the sidebar plox

  • awesome - MFGreth1 15:07, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Theres a glitch page like this for the Arcade section aswell.

Dreamcast Page Edit

Something seems to have messed up here. I made an edit here and there, but for some reason the Mr. Driller entry came out pre-formatted (there was no pre-formatting when I was working on it). When I went to fix it, and I had saved it, the picture table link dissappeared (on the page at least, I'm pretty sure it still exists). I'm pretty sure this isn't through my intended actions. At the very least, I didn't do it on purpose if it was my fault. Whether it was a bug or something, I don't know. However, I do not know exactly how to get it back up there like it was before. If you could give me some tips or, if possible, fix it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, and I'm sorry for any inconveniences. --Dejiko 09:58, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

  • I already fixed it, mang. - MFGreth1 00:41, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I apologize once again for that. I don't know what the hell happened there. Also, I am not a mango, nor any sort of fruit. I suppose if I must be a food, I figure I'd be an artichoke. --Dejiko 04:11, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. That Dreamcast page really needed the visuals.Rocketlauncher2 20:54, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Tons of problems to baleet. Edit

First of all, User:Rocketlauncher2 uploaded a bunch of duplicates (to be fair he was just trying to help). We already have images for pretty much every game he uploaded on the Scary Horror page. EVERY SINGLE GAME except Fatal Frame III, Yume Nikki, Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen, Pathologic, Darkness Within, and LSD are duplicates. These need to be erased.

Secondly, some shithead decided to try and vandalize the wiki. It was fixed quickly, but this page needs to be deleted.

Also, this page is leftover vandalism. Please baleet.

I would do all this myself, except I don't have admin power. Only admins can delete shit. - MFGreth1 17:41, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Well, it's no problem since i'd love to help as much as I can but it seems thet while trying to add a game to PC I made a bit of mistake. Sorry for being stupid but can you check it out ?

About "the" Edit

Is it ok if I move the games in the Wii section that start with the word "The"? The only ones there are The House of the Dead 2&3 Return, The House of the Dead: Overkill, and The Conduit, and while "the" does indeed start with a T, I think the average person will probably look in the C area for The Conduit, you know? Yeah that's cool. :3 Kotep 21:22, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

GBC Page Edit

Tried editing the GBC page tio add a description for Magi-Nation and the page stretched way out, but I don't know what caused it. I can't seem to fix it.

  • fixed, there was a problem with the table-width, it was set to 1000 and not auto. - MFGreth1 18:26, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Multiplayer Recommendations Edit

Is there any chance you could possibly look over and potentially add my multiplayer recommendations page to the front page? If not, please inform me why and I'll try to fix anything I can to spiff it up. If so, I'm sure I'll see it. Thanks in advance. --Dejiko 19:40, December 18, 2009 (UTC) Thanks for the update, Kotep. You are a true wikiaplaya. --Dejiko 20:41, December 18, 2009 (UTC)

Grey Area Edit

Do you mind ROM hacks and abandonware? - Pallascat 21:08, December 24, 2009 (UTC) No, I don't. For a rom hack, it might be nice to include a link to the hack and to whatever patcher you'd need to use. Kotep 10:37, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

There's a note on romhacks at the bottom of the snes page, and i think a small notice on the freeware page. As for Abandonware, a link to either emuparadise or snesorama's relevant pages may be best.

Some retard fucked up the PS3 page Edit

Sorry about trying to fix it, it wouldn't let me undo his edits after the first one.

On Virtual Boy article addition Edit

Hey I hope you don't mind, but I made a Virtual Boy article based around the Game Boy article's template here [1]. I hope it isn't too less games for it to warrant an article, but the system had some fairly solid titles that I think were worth looking at. If you don't like it maybe you could keep the material itself and just add it to the GB/GBC article.

-Luke Groundwalker

Goddamn I am there is something wrong with me Edit

Go to the PStwo section and look at my entry for Drakengard. I can't seem to figure out how to get the picture to fit in with all the other games. Thanks

Fixed. All you have to do is go into code mode, find the image, and change the |thumb|128px so that all that comes after the image address is |126px (or whatever is the standard for the page you're editing. :3 Kotep 23:02, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I'm pretty new to wikias, and so when adding a gamecube game to the table on the gamecube game list, I couldn't add the picture properly :/

{C}I managed to upload it (Gauntlet: Dark Legacy), but when I added it to the table it was wonky and either too large or too far to the right, and had a weird border around the picture. I simply removed the picture from the table, but the picture is still on the web site if anyone looks for it. Anyways, I just thought I'd let you know.

Like I said before, the trick is that you have to edit the wiki markup, not just use the rich text editor. Go into code mode, find the image, and change the |thumb|128px so that all that comes after the image address is |126px (or whatever is the standard for the page you're editing). :3

NES Screenshots Edit

The infamous NESfag and I were talking in a thread and he recommended that we change the screenshots in the NES page to in-game shots as opposed to their title screen.

I had previously thought of this, but kind of left it in the back of my head. I just wanted to ask you first if this was a good idea. I know it'd be alot of work, but I think it would make more sense, given that our PSP page, which also has screenshots, has in-game shots and boxart. It'd definitely be a team or long-term project. Dejiko 21:54, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds cool. Go for it. :D Kotep 04:36, February 16, 2010 (UTC)

I think the title screen adds some character, though screenshots aren't a bad idea. If the PSP page can have boxart and game screens, why can't the NES page have title screen and gameplay screens? - MFGreth1 05:52, February 16, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe. NESfag was likely just trying to consider practicality over aesthetics. I'd say move the screenshots of title screens to the left, replacing the names, but that'd screw up formatting of the auto-arrange stuff, due to NOLETTERS. Why don't we just have box art and screenshots since every other page has that format? That might be the best combination of practical and aesthetic elements. Dejiko 00:02, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

NESfag here. Like I said there: I am willing to take those gameplay screenshots, or at least most of them. I'd just need you to do it for one game and to add it on the page just to show me how you want the presentation to be. Boxart+screenshots on the right is an interesting idea but I am not willing to track down and resize every single boxart, especially because boxarts don't seem as usefull as gameplay screenshots to me.

I've also been editing the NES/FAMICOM page since yesterday. I've added a lot of games and I also took the liberty to edit some "wrong" things in the description, such as removing insults some editors put after correcting others, or correcting false statement (for example, Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti is a spin-off, not a prequel).

I am thinking of adding a section for "good romhacks", is this allowed ? NESfag 11:10, February 21, 2010 (UTC)

A section for good romhacks is fine. Just go ahead and upload a picture, and I can put it in and show you how it should go. (You might have to switch to the code layout to get it to work right, that's all.) Kotep 02:02, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

Coming Soon? Edit

A new addition to the Ds section, 'coming soon' should really get its own page with all (current) consoles and pc games added. This would save space in the ds section (which is already pretty full) and would obviously save the space in the other formats pages. A onestop shop for whats new and on the way :D!

The PlayStation page Edit

Seeing how most of the other pages, like the N64 one and NES one have pictures that are either 200px or wider, the 150px covers on the PlayStation page seem to break the standard look, plus they're honestly a bit too small to make out the awesomeness in some of them, would you object changing them to 200px wide? Also the name cells seem kinda thin so a lot of longer names spread across three-four rows, so it's a bit hard to read. {C}Another note is that each page should probably have the title, genre, description and cover art/screenshots in the same spot to make it less random imho. Why don't any of the games have a general release year? - PC 2D

Walkthroughs! Edit

I created a category for Walkthroughs. I hope to make a walkthrough and/or tips n tricks page for each game; obviously this will be a greater undertaking for some games than others. The only games in the category right now are Robot Unicorn Attack and Doom; I've been working on the RUA page (since it'd be an easy start), but the DOOM page needs work. I actually hope to do Super Widget and Kirby's Super Star, both for SNES, as my first true walkthroughs though. I just thought I'd throw down a heads up. - MFGreth1 22:10, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

PSone classics on PSN noted on PS1 page Edit

Ahoy there, Kotep. I was wondering if you'd be cool with me marking which PS1 games are on the PlayStation Network as PSone Classics. The number seems to rising quite a bit, and for the non-pandora crowd, this might be something worth checking out. Just checking, and I won't do it until I get a yea (and I guess keep not doing it until I get a nay). I'll make a text file on my own craptop comp ahead of time, so just give me the word if you're down with it or not. Dejiko 07:05, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the message.

I added three games in and would you mind to look up if they are good enough?

Games are

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Two Thrones

Thanks alot.

Genesis page edit, anonymous user keeps adding some weird script Edit

Seriously. Is it supposed to be good, because it seems like he's trying to plant some malicious code on the page.

Christ, you're still around? Edit

Geez man, here I thought I was one the few of us OGs (relatively OG in my case) left. Everyone else seems to have vanished. By the way, any plans for the place any time soon, such as a new section or something? I don't have any of my own, I'm just curious. Dejiko 01:08, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

the PS3 entry for Bayonetta says that a patch fixed all the problems with this version which is untrue. The patch only fixed loading times, the general slowdown of the PS3 version is still present which makes it vastly inferior to the 360 version.

Wondering if you are still around too or if anyone has editing rights to the sidebar and stuff. Rapi2 13:58, September 2, 2010 (UTC)

Please stop Bojangles11. Edit

I would like to report that Bojangles11 won't stop deleting my contribution namely "Final Fantasy XIII" on the PS3 article and he persists on its deletion. Final Fantasy XIII is not a bad game as he makes it out to be. It has a lot of hate to it, but a lot of people love the game and it actually got really good scores from places like Metacritic and Gamesrankings (especially when there are many others on this list that shouldn't be on this list IMO). He won't listen to reason of any sort due to his ignorance and is constantly deleting the contribution. If there is anyway you can do something about it I would appreciate it.

Thank you for your time.

Promotions? Edit

I think it's about high time you appointed some admins for this place, because honestly, vandalism happens too often, and its frustrating to see nothing happen except that the vandal just re-does his work. Please consider this option; I would trust Dejiko, he's a cool guy and does plenty of shit around here. - MFGreth1 23:53, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

I second this!

Uh, I'm honored. But I think having 3 might be better than one. MFGreth1 is also a good choice, IMO. Not sure about Rapi2, who has been a bit active lately. Seems a bit green, but a possible candidate for the future, maybe? Dejiko 00:16, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

MFGreth1, you have doing a lot of good as of late. You're just as good for the job as Dejiko.

You two are both awesome dudes. You're getting admin'd as soon as I figure out what button I press to do that. Kotep 05:41, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

All done. Enjoy and be excellent. Kotep 05:47, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Congrats, MFGreth1 and Dejiko on making admin. Haipayazoo 06:26, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

This is what it's like to be a normal contributor. This is what it's like to be a "cool guy". AND THIS... IS TO GO- FURTHER BEYOND! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU... But in all seriousness, thank you for the privilage. I'll do what I can, although college may make that a bit tough to do at times. Thanks again, everyone and Kotep, and co-congrats to MFGreth1. A Proposal to Migrate and Merge the WikisEdit

(CC: Dejiko, MFGreth1)

Admins of the /v/'s Recommended Games Wiki:

As we all have seen, the new Wikia layout has being derided by many users. For the time being, a temporary solution is to advice users to switch to Monaco, the old skin. However, on November 3, the option to use Monaco will be removed.

Wikia argues it doesn't have the resources to handle multiple skins, and "[h]aving multiple skins also creates an inconsistent experience across Wikia, and we want to help people move around the site and feel comfortable contributing to every wiki".

As I personally believe those arguments are bogus and insufficient for such a drastic change in the user experience, I come to you, with the best intentions, to propose you the following:

I.- A migration of this wiki's database to another hosting site, in order to keep the files and edits intact.
II.- A merger of both our wikis into a single, unified 4chan Recommendations wiki, maintaining equal Sysop status for both projects' previous Admins.

If you like this idea, please reply to my e-mail before November 3 so we can arrange the details. -- Er1si3 05:54, October 25, 2010 (UTC), Sysop of The Recommendations Wiki

Sysops gonna Sysop Edit

Time we get more coordinated. I have an AIM at MrMastodon32690, and an MSN at the same address plus (dont worry it's a spam mail account). Message me whenever. - MFGreth1 18:20, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

What is a giganip? Edit

Also, good to know about the updates. --Dejiko 05:20, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

There's a new page 'round these parts. Edit

And I'd like you to contribute! - MFGreth1 01:44, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

I made a mistake uploading a photo... Edit

Hi, I uploaded a cover of a DS game but I misclicked and put that the owner gave permission to use that image. I uploaded another one that was ok but I can't delete the old one. Could an admin delete it please? The name of the file was Loopopcubecover.jpg (the file that is ok is named Loopopcubecover1.jpg by the way) Nmanma 23:44, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hentai games Edit

Hi Kotep, I was thinking about another special page: hentai games. There are a shitload of hentai games (lots of them are flash) out there, but you know, this is /v/'s recommended games wiki and we should put the best of them in there. I could make the page by myself (I know how wiki code works, don't panic) and there are a lot of pretty good hentai games out there (Violated Heroine, Sengoku Rance, Super Deepthroat...) and we should have a page about it. Before work on something that might will not be accepted, I wanna ask this to you. What do you think about it? My sign is not working.

The only thing I'd be wary about is anything that is overtly 'obscene', as the ToS says we can't have that kind of content. In this case, I'd assume that means no graphic depictions of sex. Looking over the pictures on the page, they all look fine. (Since the SDT image isn't showing any jibbly bits, I think it's all right.) Kotep 13:59, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Front page redesign Edit

Hey Kotep, Dejiko instructed me to talk to you about the frontpage redesign before continuing moving forward. I already opened a topic in the frontpage's talk page explaining my intentions: But the jist of it is I'm trying to redesign the frontpage, you can see how's it going here: Frontpage_test

I'd like your input on it. Stay frosty.

Jkyn 20:38, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

Oh dang that's sexy. You have my approval. Kotep 01:17, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Jkyn's Frontpage_test vanished? A new challenger appears! Less fucking around with tables, more future-proof when new generations come out, and just more wiki-y. I used the icons Jkyn uploaded, and completed the set. Could use icons for the special-interest groups... maybe the tentacle from Manaic Mansion for the eroge stuff? --Mozai 18:22, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

"the tentacle from Manaic Mansion for the eroge stuff" Dohoho! Now that's comedy. I dunno how many more icons were on that image, but if anything you could make your own if need be. --Dejiko 22:11, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

Oh wow! Edit

That was YOU in that thread, boss? I guess you really do go sneaking around sometimes!

Speaking of sneaking around, do you have my e-mail, it'd be cool to possibly play with or against you online at something.

Main Page TweaksEdit

Hola my name is Nic and I'm a member of the Wikia Content Team. Just wanted to let you know that your main page needs tweaked so that the right hand column will display a 300x250 ad or a 300x600 ad (which is standard throughout Wikia) depending on the situation. The rest of the main page will look as close to the original as possible, except some of the content will be slightly pushed down a little. Let's work together on this to get this issue resolved. - Wagnike2 13:37, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia page percentages
Hello Nic. I am not Kotep, but I do contribute here, and I have some questions:
  1. How is the tweaking supposed to take place? Is this a change to the wikitext of the article that forms the front page? What's to stop any bypasser from removing the advertisement you feel is necessary by just "undo"-ing the tweak?
  2. If the tweak is not in the wikitext of the article, why are you even asking us? You can just enforce the advertisement by changing the CSS of all available styles, as you already do with the article pages that aren't the front page. We have no control over that, so there's no point in asking us to make the change -- you have control over that, not us.
  3. Is this advertisement to appear only on the front page, or on all article pages? Article pages for the default skin already has a banner ad at the top, a video advert, a selection of random pictures, adverts for other wikia sites, a banner ad on the side, two more adverts at the bottom, a set of suggested pages, and more adverts for other wikias. If we were to dedicate another 300px to your advertisements, that would be more than 50% of the viewing area for a typical user dedicated to content that is *not* what the user came here for.
  4. Can that alleyway for the advert be used by the rest of the article after the advert? The current advertisement space on the right-hand side creates dead space on the display. If the article is more than 600 words long, that's 30% of the viewing area on a typical display that is just dead dead to the user. Please forgive me for the opinion I will state here: 30% of the viewing area as dead space is a human-interface-design choice that would never get past quality assurance at even the most amateur of corporations. That's like a radio station going silent for eighteen minutes every hour.

--Mozai 15:45, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

I've attached a picture above to show you what I mean about the interface design. Green area is what the user came here looking for. Red area are things that are non-sequitrs to what the user came here looking for. In the page-sponsor area (which would occupy approx 150% that height in real-estate if this article had explicit sponsors) I put three markers to show how wide '300 pixels' is, and how much space would be left over if an additional 300 pixels are dedicated to more advertisements, as you suggested.

--Mozai 16:07, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

I want to elect a possible mod/admin candidate, but I would like to know your opinion and chance of approval first. Edit Mozai seems like a pretty knowledgeable chap and generally fair and agreeable fellow. He definitely knows more about Wiki formatting, computer matters, and such more than I do. Would you be opposed to making him a moderator or admin? --Dejiko 23:20, October 25, 2011 (UTC)

Since he seems pretty cool and super knowledgeable and stuff, I went ahead and admin'd him. Thanks for all your help Mozai! Kotep 19:37, October 31, 2011 (UTC)

*stands at attention* Sir yes SIR! ... I guess this means I must be fair and just from now on; I've lost my opportunities to be a whiny little bitch. I have certain ideas/vision about the way things SHOULD be, but they've already been implemented, so I'm not likely to go mad with power either. --Mozai 19:50, October 31, 2011 (UTC)

Thinking about splitting the Windows games page Edit

As you probably know, the PC games page is an ill-maintained mess that takes too long to load and is missing tons of games because no one wants to edit it. I've looked at the dates of the listed games and I think it would be a good idea to split the page into two pages for games made before and after 2002, making it easier to look for classic and modern-ish games. What do you think? --PKFire 12:54, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

I ain't Kotep, but I gotta say you got my vote. It may be better to split it to DOS and normal PC, but I dunno. I don't think the year split is notable enough. 2002 is good enough. Especially from 1985. --Dejiko 18:36, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

A split is definitely a good idea, the only question would be the critera you want to use to divide it up. Both Windows/DOS and before/after 2002 sounds alright, so whatever way you think is best. I think perhaps the date would be a little more helpful, though the DOS/Windows split is more intuitive. Up to you, but you have my approval for splitting it however you want to do it. Kotep 22:20, November 13, 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking of 2002 because that's pretty much the middle of the list when sorted by date. I was considering 2000 first, but the split would be uneven then. I'll look into it tomorrow. --PKFire 22:59, November 13, 2011 (UTC)
My first instinct is to split it based on requirements; the entire wiki is organized by 'what hardware can play these games' or 'games of a specific genre/special-interest' with a few 'this specific game' articles. A person will come here knowing what they have, and looking for what can be used on what they have. Instead of calling it "before 2002 / after 2002" call it "MS-DOS" (up to 1992?), "Windows 3.1/95/XP" (1992-2006), "Windows Vista/7/8" (2006-on). I'll start using my wiki-fu and break the table up into those sections right now. If you guys want to break it into seperate articles, it will be easier for you after I'm done. --Mozai 01:32, November 14, 2011 (UTC)

There's an editwar going on with the PC page; a nameless is undoing the changes discussed, leaving a "this is bad and you should feel bad" insults too. And another nameless who just reverted the page back to what it was a week ago. It's tempting to put them in time-out, but instead I left a message saying why the changes were made, and I'll wait. --Mozai 16:35, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

If there continues to be problems you can just make your edits and lock the page for a little while to let the other people cool down. Kotep 21:03, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, scratch that. Since it was reverted again, I'm going to lock the page for now until we get the PC section cleaned up. Probably going to split it into separate pages, at least a separate one for the 'MS-DOS' games, but we can figure that out later. Kotep 21:25, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

I want to avoid using lockout unless it's really needed (ie: spambots or vandals doing pagewipes). It's antithetical to the wiki idea. Editwars are arguments, sometimes heated ones, but nobody's deleted data so I see it as valid expression of dissension.
I was separating the list by publish date / OS required when the nonames were reverting it. :P When making the MS-DOS page, don't forget to fold in (#redirect?) the Low end computer games page. --Mozai 22:01, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

At the point it got to, it was an argument that was going nowhere because he was just reverting. I don't want to leave it locked for long, just long enough to get things sorted out into a more user-friendly setup that everyone can agree with. (I don't think the low-end computer games page is the exact same as the DOS games though, though we can certainly have a link to the DOS games page since none of those would require a lot of processing power.) Kotep 23:41, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

If anyone wants to take a look at my proposed plan for the PC page, it's here: User:Kotep/PC Sandbox The graphics could be changed later on but I think it gets the idea across clearly and offers an easy way to select the sections. Kotep 05:45, November 16, 2011 (UTC)

That looks great to me, I'd have no objections with using that as it is. --PKFire 16:15, November 16, 2011 (UTC)

Chat FunctionEdit

Dejiko gave me a good idea by telling me to ask you if this wiki can have a chat function like other wiki's do. If it's not impossible, or too ttroublesome, please make it happen. Sincerely, Yo Nigga, Cloudman15(Cloudman15 15:35, January 26, 2012 (UTC))

Thanks for the welcome! Let's pump up the SNES section! Edit

Thanks for welcoming me to the site! I don't know if it was an auto-message or what, but either way I'm glad to be here. I've been lurking for the past few weeks and I must say that I LOVE this place! It's fantastic! Not a big 4chan fan, but if it produced this place, it can't be all that bad! I can't wait to add in some more stuff! I also added an entry for Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow a little while back, but that was before I made an account. I'm mostly a portable and retro gamer, but I dabble in other stuff.

I noticed that the SNES section is lacking some seriously AMAZING games! So, I think that is where I'll be focusing the majority of my attention at the moment.

Wikia's Terms of Use Edit

Hi, I left a message over on Somc's talk page, but also wanted to check in with you. We're looking at some wikis that push against Wikia's Terms of Use at the moment. Part of that is that we don't allow articles or images that are "obscene, pornographic, abusive, offensive, [or] profane". Mostly things are fine here of course, but we do consider explicit descriptions of sex outside the ToU - especially if they involve underage participants. Obviously that might clash with some of the descriptions of hentai games etc. (especially and loli), so please can you watch out for that and modify any text and images to keep it suitable for general audiences. Pages to check include Hentai Games (R=18), Hentai Games (R=18)/Zone Games and Hentai Novel Games. Thanks -- sannse WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 19:03, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

They haven't responded to my mail yet, so you might want to try as well. Edit

Howdy, boss. No go on a mail reply yet, though I was rather polite, so maybe I just sent it to the wrong place (I sent it to feedback, which might not have been the best place to send it).

I'm not sure where a direct mail should be sent that it will reach someone on Reddit with site-editing privileges for them. If you know, please go ahead.

Thanks again, {C}Dej/Derp

--Dejiko 04:08, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

  • I emailed them myself, with this:

Hi, I've been recently informed that your website []. specifically the subdomain [r/gaming], has made a link to the wiki I help administrate, /v/'s recommended games wiki. You did not ask for permission to link to our wiki. Were you to have asked first, we could have come to an agreement with the other admins and myself. However, reddit, as I understand is a 'for-profit' website. /v/'s recommended games wiki is not. Under this, I would ask that you please remove the link from your page until the situation can be discussed and possibly agreed upon. Thank you. - MFGreth

Hopefully they'll respond soon. - MFGreth1 23:13, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

Hentai Edit

We're not showing or linking anything explicit. All the hentai games can stay there and (unless you get some complaints, which I seriously don't think it's gonna happen) no one cares about their content. By your logic we whould remove more than half of the game in that page because you can model/mod/add a loli into. I don't get also the MLP problem, we aren't showing anything explicit. If you think the picture is too exagerated, just zoom on her eyes on we're done. It's not like other Zone games doesn't contain cartoon or underage characters in it.

I can understand your worries, but we're not doing anything dangerous or illegal there. We're just removing content from those pages. TheDekuLink

That's so cheap it makes me want to follow a guy's suggestion from /v/ and move this page to Google Docs. At least there we could have link too. TheDekuLink

We're doing it not because we suddenly got old, or we decided to run for office. The management of Wikia has made it clear to us that they will delete whatever they feel is beyond their limits to good taste. I've already mentioned this on the discuss part of the front page. Either we pull back, or Wikia will just delete items and then we have to find backups or rebuild from scratch. --Mozai 03:59, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

What's google docs' stance on the content the adult games this wiki used to and currently have? It probably is best if the adult pages were moved to an external site. There are a bunch of games out there that should be on these pages however some of those games contain loli/shota but are very minor scenes. Some are the sort of games where you get lost in the gameplay rather than the porn side of it but have the above scenes which mean they cannot be put on these lists. Then there's text games where they go beyond just underaged characters into darker terroritory but if that were illegal then sites like ASSTR would have got destroyed. Are there any other similar sites that offer editing like wikia and google docs does? We should keep our options open.Somc 01:31, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

I don't think the adult pages really need to be moved to an external site. Now could there be an external site that lists things that can't apply here? Sure, why not. But we already got one of the adult games pages (the AIF page) up to code for Wikia, and I only ended up removing maybe a tenth of the games on the Hentai page, and there might not be anything that has to be removed on the Zone games page (though I'm not sure whether the links are okay or not.) So it's not like a massive banhammer coming down limiting all adult things and making it impossible to recommend anything good. There just can't be anything explicit or that mentions underage characters in sexual contexts. The former is more of a style issue, and the latter is only a problem for a small portion of games where loli/shota stuff is inescapably part of it. (Like that one game that had 'shota' in the name or the one with Rydia where it was definitely her as a kid.) If it's a big issue for you, go ahead and make a more inclusive list, but then it probably shouldn't be affiliated with or linked to from this wiki.
Problem is, it's not really a question of legality. Wikia owns the space and the hosting, so they kind of get to tell us when there's things we can't put on it. Kotep 07:34, April 28, 2012 (UTC)
May 21st

Wikia staff Sarah Manley wants a word with us about the hentai list. I'll handle it; just making sure you're notified. --Mozai 23:29, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Banning people Edit

It has come to my attention that people have been removing contributions for shitty reasons or for the hell of it. This needs to stop. Can you or the other mods start banning these assholes. 07:06, April 27, 2012 (UTC)

He's talking about two people that are removing Katawa Shoujo from Freeware Games, and summarizing the edit as "removing a game /v/ hates" which is patently false since /v/ made the game in question. I am monitoring the situation, and will take action when I feel it requires more than just hitting the 'undo' button. --Mozai 03:53, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

I'm back after my computer broke Edit

Sorry for being gone so long, but I had to scrounge up the cash for repairs. Dejiko 21:47, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

Is there even a need for the year released spot on the DS page? Edit

Hate to bother you, boss, but I already argued this point with someone else, and I feel it's pretty stupid for a few reasons:
1) Different release dates for different regions - This is the biggest one. It doesn't make sense to put release dates when they're different in the 3 main regions (NTSC/NA, PAL/EUR, JP), especially if the game in question didn't even come out in out one or more regions
2) Putting in all dates for all regions would expand the category even further - This is most notable for game released in all regions
3) Hardly anyone edits it - It'd be different if this weren't the case, but barely any additions have been made since the first time someone put it in
4) It crams up the other categories, especially description, and is hardly a "valuable" category - especially compared to name and genre.

Now, I don't think something like Metacritic/audience scores are any better (since the red, yellow, and green are enough frankly), but this was argued for quite a while and the consensus was to do something like a google doc offsite and link it back here.

Since you put it back in, I don't know if you were planning to work on it or not. Just throwing my two cents in. --Dejiko 01:21, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

I have no idea what people have decided to do with the DS page so whatever works is fine. The guy who edited it changed a number of descriptions as well as adding in the stuff about flashcarts and changing the columns, so I'm hesitant to roll it all back. Kotep 03:23, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
I see. Ok, then. If nobody adds to it (or if they add enough), I guess someone can get a google doc started with dates. I don't have one myself, so, yeah. --Dejiko 03:43, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Just to keep in contact and stuff. --Dejiko (talk) 01:45, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

Unlock the main page Edit

Care to unlock the main page? I want to add a system. --LYRIC-Stormwatch (talk) 01:21, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

Regulations regarding image Edit

Hello there, so sorry that I have no ideas about image regulations here. So, any pics that show any explicitly are forbidden here even for adult games? Okay then, I will not do the same thing again... Pronunciation (talk) 07:21, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, the Wikia TOS applies for all of the pages here, and to images as well as text. I hate to have to be the No Fun Allowed robot, but there are rules about that sort of thing. Kotep (talk) 07:24, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

Blank lines Edit

Please stop with that multiple blank lines bullshit. --LYRIC-Stormwatch (talk) 08:08, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not the one putting them in. I figure it's some artifact generated by most of us using the regular code-based editor but a few people using the WYSIWYG editor, which likes to do dumb shit like replicate line breaks and break formatting by doing so. I just fix that stuff whenever I see it happening. Kotep (talk) 20:15, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Adding to Other GenEdit

I'm just wondering if you could add the Android page to Other Gens > Other/Miscellaneous, The iPhone page is there already, seems it'd be apropriate adding the Android page as well.

Thanks in advance, Zgd (talk) 13:20, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Oh, and while you're at it, adding the different consoles to their generation, a list;

Master System to Other Gens > Third Generation

Neo Geo, Atari Lynx & Game Gear to Other Gens > Fourth Generation

Neo Geo CD, Atari Jaguar, 3DO, Apple Bandai Pippin, Neo Geo Pocket, Virtual Boy & WonderSwan to Other Gens > Fifth Generation

Didn't check the Last and current gen, will do that later.

Zgd (talk) 14:35, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

I feel you. I bought FF9 the day it came out. As I played I realized something was horribly awry. I was about 22 at the time and I'd just beat FF8 and I really enjoyed it. 9 took all the freedom of 8 away, I kept waiting for the game world to "open up" so I could fuck around and it never did. I got to some big cutscene where a massive armada of airships was going somewhere to kill the big baddie. Ejected the disc and took it back lol.

I think it's finally time to replay the bastard. You've inspired me bro.

Vandalism Edit

User:Gaboya is repeatedly vandalizing the Ouya page. Ban plz kthx.--LYRIC-Stormwatch (talk) 06:23, August 6, 2013 (UTC)
