Let's fix it Edit
This page is terrible. Obviously.
- Title is "Old and busted". Then we say "So old it hurts". But: "Pong is objectively perfect and still playable and fun". Hmmm. Change the title.
- Definition is "Games that predate or exist on the first generation of home consoles." But: Fairchaild VES and Atari 2600 released in 1976 and 1977. Rogue released in 1980, and then you go on to talk about Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and The Binding of Issac for crying out loud. So, we either need to change the definition or the examples, and certainly the modern games — just link to the rougelike page for people who want to know more about that.
- There are no jokes (except "Magnacocks Odyssey" — brilliant), just gratuitous swearing, "Fuck you" in various formatting. Who thinks this is funny or at all entertaining? I can't help with this, but maybe there is someone reading that is funnier than me who can do some magic.
- Not enough games. I recommend sections for: Spacewar! (PDP-10, 1962); Maze War [the first FPS] (Imlac, 1974); Dungeons and Dragons recreations, inc. dnd, moria, Oubliette [which later became Wizardry!] (Plato, 1975-1977); Breakout (Arcade, 1976); ADVENT [later known as Colossal Cave Adventure, the original text-adventure] (PDP-10, 1976). These are the real dinosaur's grandfathers and also the masterpieces of the time — and each probably more important than Pong.
Sometime soon I will make as many of these changes that I can myself. It's an interesting topic and doesn't deserve the current article (and it is even on the front page!) Sam250 13:13, June 6, 2012 (UTC)
I think this page was made mostly as a joke because there was no 1st Generation anything in the old main page, so do whatever, I guess. TheJohns 07:09, June 7, 2012 (UTC)
