|Zach & Wiki is a classic adventure game. Similar to its point and click predecessors, you will have to utilize various items to solve the puzzles. For a Wii game, this is surprisingly brain taxing. Motion control is implemented here, and it makes solving the puzzles even more fun. A fun feature here is the ability to change enemies into items. There are plenty of secrets in this game that are not immediately obvious.

Wii Games You want to have

Title Genre Description
Animal Crossing: City Folk Casual Basically take Animal Crossing for Gamecube, add in wifi, and you have Animal Crossing: City Folk. It has Wii Speak compatibility, which might be a draw for some. It's probably most fun if you don't own Wild World for DS and haven't played the Gamecube game.
Battalion Wars 2 TPS/Strategy Battalion Wars 2 combines a third person shooter and strategy game. You control units in real time, but you need to move and attack tactically in order to win. There are additional options for online co-op and multiplayer versus. This is a solid game overall. The main issue I have with it is that some of the motion controls are a little wonky. For a Wii game, it is surprisingly difficult.
Blastworks Shoot-Em-Up
Boom Blox: Bash Party Forget the original Boom Blox; this one is streets ahead of it. A physics game which engages the player in a variety of tasks and puzzles all using the Wii's innovative IR. Grab and pull blocks Jenga style; shoot lasers at flying objects; or throw baseballs at huge towers. Bash Party gives you access to the same level creation tool that the developers used, as well as the ability to instantly play levels from other players online.
Deadly Creatures Action Although short, Deadly Creatures is a fun game. Controlling a tarantula and scorpion, you will traverse the various environments. Your enemies range from gila monsters, to rodents, to other creepy crawlies. I find the tarantula to be much more fun than the scorpion personally. The motion control here is hit and miss.
de Blob Platformer de Blob is sort of like a platformer combined with a sandbox game. You color buildings and splat enemies using motion control that is surprisingly well implemented. Occasionally you will have to waggle the wii mote furiously to paint certain landmarks. The game has tons of missions that progressively get more difficult. There are also optional missions, as well as a neat multiplayer mode.
Elebits FPS A child-friendly first person shooter, Elebits is a unique game with an interesting game mechanic. You control a "capture gun," reminiscent of the physics gun in Garry's Mod, that can carry and throw objects to reveal hidden creatures called elebits. By shooting elebits, you charge up your gun which allows you to pick up heavier objects to find more elebits. The game features a robust, yet slightly unrealistic physics engine and an excellently customizable level editor. The game is flawed with sometimes overly-long and tedious missions, not much variation, and lackluster graphics. Multiplayer is frantic and exciting, but unbalanced.
Excitebots: Trick Racing Racing
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon RPG/Roguelike FFF: Chocobo's Dungeon is a roguelike sequel to Chocobo's Dungeon 2 for the Playstation 1. There are many different classes for Chocobo in this roguelike, and each class has unique features. The best part of this game are the bonus missions. They automatically set your level. These missions force you to enter the dungeon without your powered up weapons/armour. They are quite challenging, and make grinding useless (rare for a roguelike). You will have to use strategy to overcome them.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Strategy RPG This game is occasionally lauded as one of the more difficult for Wii. It is a solid strategy RPG title, much akin to the other Fire Emblem games. If you like Fire Emblem, especially the Gamecube Fire Emblem, you will greatly enjoy this one.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies Shoot-Em-Up
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility Simulation
Little King's Story Strategy Little King's Story is a strategy game where you recruit civilians and assign them to various jobs. Then you go out into the world to explore, beat bosses, and conquer the world! There are a lot of secrets to find throughout the game. It's often compared to Pikmin, but there are a lot more different kinds of minions to employ than that game. The bosses in particular are a lot of fun here. They each have specific strategies and weaknesses that you will have to figure out to win. Sometimes bringing a lot of characters from a certain kind of class will help out exponentially, which makes party building and organizing a fairly important part of the game as well.
Madworld Beat-em-up From the creators of God Hand and Okami comes Mad World. Surreal sin city-esque graphics really set it out from other games. Fun, over the top beat-em-up with wacky announcers. Waggle works rather well here, but it could have been better with a regular controller. Becomes repetitive, but still worth a look. Pick it up if you can get it rather cheap.
Mario Kart Wii Racing Mario Kart Wii features the usual racing randomness that you've come to expect from the series. This particular game adds bikes and tricks. It also nerfs the "snaking" that made Mario Kart DS nightmareish for some players. The online in this game is flawless. There is basically no lag whatsoever. Online matchmaking is quick and effortless as well.
Super Mario Strikers Sports
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption FPS/Adventure Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is a first person adventure game/shooter. It is basically more or less like its predecessors, with one big exception: The game's control system features full-on motion control explicitly designed to make the best use of the Wii. The control scheme lends itself perfectly Metroid Prime 3. It is also very responsive. The bosses in this game are particularly enjoyable.
Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars
No More Heroes Beat-em-Up This is a personal favorite game of mine from this gen. It's another hilarious, violent, and over the top beat-em-up for the Wii. You play as Travis Touchdown, slashing at random peons, and doing various mini-games in between the massacring. The characters and voice acting are both fantastic. The boss battles in particular are quite cleverly designed.
Punch Out! Arcade/Fighting Punch-Out Wii is a remake of the NES boxing classic. Watch your opponent for visual cues and dodge in time, then strike back with a perfectly timed hit! Little Mac and Doc Louis return, along with lots of fighters from previous instalments and the infamous "nigga stole my bike" scene remastered for a new generation.
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Rail Shooter Umbrella Chronicles retells scenes from Resident Evil 1 and 0, but in lightgun shooter format! Yay! It tries to remain as faithful to RE as a rail shooter can, and it's competent at doing so. Headshots are hard to get though.
Rune Factory Frontier Action RPG/Simulation
Super Mario Galaxy Platformer Super Mario Galaxy has one of the highest meta-scores of any game this generation, and for very good reason. This is a magnificent platformer, innovating upon the usual Mario formula in many ways. The biggest change is the implementation of motion control. You will use it to perform Mario's spin, explore dozens of planets, and collect star bits with the Wii mote. There are various challenges that use it cleverly in other ways as well. With 120 stars to collect, and tons of platforming challenges, there is plenty to do in this game.
Super Paper Mario Platformer Paper Mario? A platformer? What? Yep, that's the direction Nintendo went with this game. Though the game features some RPG elements, it is mostly a platformer. It's still, nonetheless, a very fun game. The humor is great, the levels are over the top, and there are plenty of interesting puzzles. While not as good as the previous installments in the Paper Mario franchise, this is still definitely worth playing.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Fighting/Party This is a must-own game for Wii owners. It's excessively fun, both with online and offline multiplayer. The subspace emissary (single-player) honestly is actually not too bad either. With plenty of new characters, hardly any clones, and the same great gameplay as the previous Smash Bros. games, Brawl is fun whether you want to play competitively (lol) or casually. Shame they had to add tripping though. SAKURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI!
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Fighting Awesome fighter. Controls are a bit dumbed down in comparison to MvC, so not a serious tourney game. Still good for a couple of rounds with your friends or a playthrough by yourself. Japanese only at the moment, but an NA release is on the horizon. You don't need to know any Japanese to play, so get downloading.
Tenchu: Shadow Assassins Stealth
House of the Dead: Overkill Rail Shooter House of the Dead takes on a 70s pulp Grindhouse cinema feel. Corny dialogue/acting, lots of MOTHERFUCKIN' swearing and tits, and plenty of blood. A combo system makes scoring high a test of pure skill, and there are a variety of different weapons to splatter zombies with.
The Conduit FPS High Voltage Software and SEGA cater to Wii-only players with their very own generic FPS. It's functional, and the Wii controls are a dream. Online multiplayer is also excellent, but the singleplayer campaign is uninspired.
Tiger Woods 10 Sports One of the few Sports games that is actually done right. Accurate motion controls make use of Wii Motion+
Trauma Center: New Blood Simulation The sequel to Trauma Center: Second Opinion, New Blood continues the storyline of Second Opinion along with adding even harder challenges and more general surgical stages to play through. Players who haven't bought Second Opinion yet are reccomended to play through Second Opinion, as New Blood is more difficult and builds upon skills learned in Second Opinion.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion Simulation The remake of the first Trauma Center on the DS with the glorious precision controls of the Wii pointer. The game follows through the story of new surgeon Derek Stiles, when he discovers he has a "Healing Touch," which allows him to slow time during surgery. Healing wounds is satisfying in the first couple of levels, and the learning curve stays consistent with no awkward hiccups of random difficulty between transitions. For those who really are looking for a challenge on the Wii, Trauma Center delivers wholeheartedly and unashamedly, as simple mistakes in later levels will result in complete loss.
Wario Land: Shake It! Platformer This is a pretty fun and humorous 2D platformer. Wario is no longer invincible, but certain enemy attacks and stage hazards DO still power him up in various ways (setting him on fire for instance). These powers, again, still can help him find secrets. The game is pretty easy if you just want to breeze through it. However, unlocking all the treasures and completing the missions in each level is VERY difficult.
Warioware: Smooth Moves Minigame Compilation

The frenzied WarioWare franchise comes to the Wii. Different microgames require you to hold the Wiimote in a different way and waggle yourself to victory as the onslaught of challenges becomes faster and faster. Plenty of unlockables and fun multiplayer modes included.

Wii Sports Resort Wii ______ games are a taboo here, yeah, but this is the best one. Nintendo's official MotionPlus bundle, which as well as being fun, shows off the technology superbly. The best activities are Swordplay and Table Tennis, though everyone will find others that suit them.
Zach & Wiki Adventure Zach & Wiki is a classic adventure game.
