Instead of connecting "every 24 hours", connecting will only be required the first time the console is used. Much speculation exists about whether or not the constant validation might be implemented again in the future, despite Microsoft claims denying such possibility.

Updates

Update June 18 2013: After the huge backlash, Microsoft has lightened the DRM restirctions; you can now play offline and share disc-based games. Games for the console will also be region free in responce to PS4 being Region-Free.

Instead of locking discs to the system they removed the "family share" trick of allowing up to ten people to acces the same download as long as they all were on the downloader's friends list for at least 30 days.

Kinect 2.0 still is a vital part of the console, coming bundled with it and remaining on at all times, which leads to much speculation about invasion of privacy and constant monitoring. More info on the Kinect: from Daily Mail and NBC News.

System Specs

  • 8GB GDDR3 RAM
  • 8 core "Jaguar" CPU
  • Blu-Ray
  • Wifi with ethernet port in back
  • HDMI in-out
  • USB 3.0

The Xbox One, as seen above, has similar specs to its main rival, the PS4, being set back by employing the slower GDDR3 variety of RAM memory when compared to the PS4 GDDR5.

This has proven to be a major concern among possible costomers, as Microsoft's new platform will operate by using its own OS and Windows simultaneously, which, when combined with other RAM-intensive activities such as cloud storage management and streaming, might lead to bottllenecking.

[All information above is based prerelease data. This page will be updated accordingly to accurately reflect actual facts once the console has been made available.]
